Crane Testing
The law requires crane testing. Therefore, must test an overhead crane before using it. The image below shows technicians testing an overhead travelling crane. After installation or modification you must also test and certify the crane.
During testing, technicians measure the deflection from the ground to the crane’s bridge. They then take a second measurement while the crane is under load. Henceforth, the difference between the two readings must not exceed the allowable deflection rate.
Finally, technicians record another measurement. This confirms that the crane’s bridge has returned to its original position.
